Homecoming Celebration and Concert
All alumni, students, faculty, staff, friends, and members of the Athens State community are invited to join Athens State University for our annual HOMECOMING CELEBRATION as we recognize and celebrate our alumni. This year’s event begins on Friday, July 26 at 6:00 PM with a complimentary dinner, followed by a concert from bluegrass band “Iron Horse” to carry the fun into the night. This event is free courtesy of the Athens State University Alumni Association. You may RSVP on this webpage, by email at firstname.lastname@example.org, or by phone at 256-233-8185.
Homecoming weekend will continue on Saturday, July 27 at 9:00 AM as we honor the Athens College Class of 1969, who will be celebrating the 50th year of their commencement, alongside our current graduates. They will cross the stage in full regalia to receive a special recognition prior to the awarding of diplomas for the Class of 2019.
While no general registration is required for attending the graduation ceremony, we ask that members of the Class of 1969 contact us if they would like to participate. You may contact the Office of University Advancement at 256-233-8185 or email email@example.com with any questions.
About “Iron Horse”
Iron Horse has roots going back to the late 1970’s with many different musicians’ involvement through several local bands. The band was formed in 2000 in the famous hit recording capital of the ’60’s and ’70’s, Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Iron Horse creates much of its own music, with an innate ability for cross-genre arrangements. Incredible success has been seen in various tribute albums produced by CMH Records. Iron Horse has toured throughout the United States, as well as the Bahamas, Netherlands, Belgium, and France.
