ATHENS FOREVER
“Athens Forever” is a celebration of students – past, present, and future. The last 200 years have seen some hundreds of thousands of learners pass through our historic columns. Each has had an individual dream, aspiring to gain an education that could transform the rest of their lives. To this day, our commitment remains on serving the needs of students, creating degree programs based on industry trends and workforce needs and partnering with local leaders to design educational experiences that create value in a competitive job market.
Our primary goal is to provide students the skills, training, and preparation needed to achieve desired goals and build a promising future. The “Athens Forever” bicentennial celebration is a time to celebrate the rich history of Athens State University while proactively preparing for its future.
PREPARING LEADERS
Athens State is a working person’s institution, meaning a majority of our students attend college while holding down a full-time job. Many have children, are the first in their family to attend college, and most qualify for some financial assistance. Our students are here for a better life. In conjunction with the bicentennial celebration, a second initiative of “Athens Forever” includes an endowment campaign. We are actively seeking funds to offset the costs of a quality education, further making higher learning both affordable and accessible to all students. Together, we can prepare more students to lead in an increasingly complex world.
STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS:
THE IMPACT
On average, the Athens State University Foundation funds approximately 150 scholarships, awarding roughly $150,000 annually to students. Our goal for this campaign is to double that number by 2022 and beyond. We aim to provide support where needed, creating opportunities for Athens State’s best and brightest learners.
