Dateline: June 19, 2019

All alumni, students, faculty, staff, family, and friends of Athens State University are cordially invited to take a journey “Over the Moon” for the University’s annual Homecoming Celebration and Summer Commencement. This year’s space-themed event was inspired by the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing and will commemorate this special time in our nation’s history. The dinner celebration will be held Friday, July 26 in the Brown Hall Courtyard, with Summer Commencement being held on Saturday, July 27 on Founders Hall Lawn.

The Homecoming Celebration will begin at 6:00 pm on July 26 as guests are treated to a complimentary meal and entertainment provided by Muscle Shoals based bluegrass band “Iron Horse.” Athens State’s Summer Commencement Ceremony will take place at 9:00 am on July 27. In addition to celebrating the Class of 2019, members of the Class of 1969 will participate in the ceremony and be honored for joining the “50 Year Club,” a commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the class’s commencement.

Both events are complimentary. RSVPs are requested at www.athens.edu/homecoming. For more information, please contact the Office of University Advancement at 256-233-8215 or advancement@athens.edu.
