Athens State University will hold its Summer Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, July 27 at 9:00 am on Founders Hall Lawn. In addition to celebrating the Class of 2019, members of the Class of 1969 will participate in the ceremony and be honored for joining the “50 Year Club,” a commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the class’s commencement.

Dr. Philip Way, Athens State University’s incoming President, will be the keynote speaker. Dr. Way previously served as Provost and Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs at Slippery Rock University in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania. He will begin his duties as President on August 1.

The first part of this year’s event will take place on Friday, July 26 at 6:00 pm in the Brown Hall Courtyard. Guests will be treated to a complimentary meal and entertainment provided by Muscle Shoals-based bluegrass band “Iron Horse.” Both events are free of charge.
